Speaker Information

“Talkin’ SCRAP”
Featuring – Rich Brady EVP, Ferrous Commercial Group,
Omnisource Corporation

OmniSource Corporation is one of North America’s largest processors and distributors of scrap and secondary metals.  Their operation includes 70 U.S. scrap collection facilities, 11 operating shredders, providing all providing the capacity to process 7 Million tons of ferrous scrap annually and more than a billion pounds of nonferrous metals.

The rich OmniSource history dates back more than 65 years ago when they were founded in Fort Wayne, Indiana.    The footprint continues to expand as they expand their processing assets to cover new geographical territories, opening new facilities and making targeted acquisitions.  Supplementing their company collection facilities, they have also developed strategic partnerships with companies where they have installed customized metals-recycling programs, some of which they manage and operate at manufacturing facilities nationwide.  In 2007, OmniSource was acquired by Steel Dynamics.

Here to tell us the rest of the story and share some candid viewpoints on the future of scrap is Rich Brady, EVP, Ferrous Commercial Group of OmniSource.

 “Robotic Arm Improves Shear Capabilities"

If keeping up with the latest technology promotes success, creating brand new technology guarantees it. At our meeting you will discover how Lane Steel became the first processor of flat rolled steel products to integrate a robotic arm with automatic shear operations. The world’s first integrated robot/shear made its debut in January at the company’s McKees Rocks facility. Lane Steel President, Paul Gedeon, will explain how this new system will change the future of automatic shearing.  A vision of Lane Steel Co., the integrated system was engineered from the ground up by Automated Robotics Systems, LLC, of Pittsburgh.  Don’t miss this informative overview of the industry’s latest technology.

 “Meet the Robot!”

Lane Steel cordially invites ASD members to their facility to watch the new integrated system in action. Guests are encouraged to plan a trip to Lane Steel, 4 River Road, McKees Rocks, PA on Thursday afternoon from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Call 412.777.1700 to schedule your visit.
