ASD Announces 2002 Steel Man of the Year
Howard F. Rekoon of Parkdale International

The Association of Steel Distributors (ASD) announced that Howard F. Rekoon of Parkdale International is the recipient of the 2002 Honorary Steel Man of the Year award. This year ASD is pleased to bestow its highest honor, an industry distinction, to Rekoon of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, at a black-tie reception and dinner on Sunday March 23, 2003, coinciding with the association’s Annual Convention at the Hilton El Conquistador, March 22 – March 25, in Tucson, Arizona.

It is an ASD tradition to honor one individual who, through their distinct leadership skills, dedication and commitment strives to achieve excellence for the steel industry and ASD.

Rekoon first became involved with the ASD in September of 1980 and since then, has remained active in the association. During his involvement with ASD over the past two decades, Rekoon has served ASD as President, Membership Committee Chair, Treasurer, Central Region Vice President, Executive Vice President and as a Strategic Planning Committee member. For over 22 years, Rekoon has been an employee of Parkdale International where he has earned an MBA in marketing and currently serves as Vice President of Sales.
