CHICAGO — The Association of Steel Distributors (ASD) announced its recently elected 2006 Board of Directors at the Annual Conference located in Acapulco, Mexico, March 25-28. The board of directors provides strategic direction for the organization and drive headquarters staff initiatives. The new president of ASD is Mr. Dominic Vitucci, Jr., president of Vitco Steel Supply Corporation, a family owned steel service center and distributor located presently in Dixmoor, Illinois. Dominic Jr. began his career at the company, spending his first few years running shears, slitters and edging lines before being promoted to sales in 1982. Dominic is President/CEO of the company since his father’s passing in 2003. At present they have five slitters and one cut-to-length line adding value to HRP&O, CR, GALV and Pre-Painted low carbon steel. Previously, Vittuci served the ASD Board of Directors as executive vice president. As president of ASD, Dominic plans to continue to increase the membership drive by offering quality speakers and presentations at all regional meetings, conventions and conferences and to implement a mentoring program for young executives within the industry. “Dominic will be an excellent leader for the association, as well as the 2006 ASD Board,” said Ron Pietrzak, ASD executive director. “He is an extremely passionate, dedicated industry professional, and I look forward to working with Dominic at this level.” Vitucci replaces 2005 president Doug Everhart, vice president – purchasing, of Wyoming Steel, Camden, Ohio. Everhart now assumes the role of immediate past president on the 2006 Board. Thomas N. Smith, Sr. of B & D Steel Company, Holland, Penn., will now assume the role of executive vice president for ASD. In this role, Smith is next in line to become the president of the association. Robert Pelles, president of Premium Metals, Inc., Cleveland, Ohio, will retain the position of treasurer. Mr. Dave Raco of Carnegie, Penn.-based Tomsin Steel Company, Inc., will be the eastern region vice president. Jim Barnett, president of Grand Steel Products, Inc., Farmington Hills, Michigan, will remain in his role of central region vice president. Steven C. Bergman, president of Premier Steel, Inc., Englewood, New Jersey, will now assume the role of Eastern Region Director. Returning Board members are as follows:
